Mac Lion OS X and Windows - best of both worlds

After two decades of using Microsoft I switched to Mac six months ago. As crazy as it sounds, 20 minutes after plugging it in I started to understand all other Apple users who call people nuts for sticking with Microsoft. I felt the sudden urge to set my Windows machines on fire... I did not do that, of course, but I must admit I grit my teeth every time I need to do something on my Windows laptop that can't be done on Mac.

And that's where the pain is...

In spite of a significant increase of Mac users all over the world, Microsoft is still ahead of Apple where it comes to business applications. Apps I have not yet seen beaten by Apple: One Note and Outlook. An application I sorely miss on Mac is PSPad editor. Oh sure, there's Coda. But I just love the simplicity of PSPad. You get to see your open and closing div tags with one mouse click. And I am an intensive user of Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 premium. The half ass Mac version simply won't do (and is in English only)...

I am going on an adventure called Parallels Desktop

Yep, I hope I found THE solution to get best of both worlds!

I purchased Parallels Desktop 7. Having to buy yet another Windows license at 12 times the price of the Apple operating system is kind of frustrating, but from what I read in general reviews it's supposedly worth it.

As currently my agenda is plastered with work and appointments for many weeks to come I am kind of curious if setting up Parallels to be able to smoothly run Windows applications really is the piece of cake they advertise, or if I should more than one workday to do it.

Dit weblog is de plek voor mijn persoonlijke ideeën en visies. Voor alle dingen die ik op mijn zakelijke websites en blogs niet kan of wil publiceren.

Tweetalig

Ik schrijf zowel in het Nederlands als in het Engels. Om het eenvoudig te houden zijn de artikelen als zodanig per taal gelabeld. Ik weet uit ervaring dat niet iedereen het prettig vindt om Engels te lezen.

Waarom blogger?

Simpel zat. Ik heb het druk... beredruk. Ik had best een Wordpress blog op kunnen trekken, maar dat is me veel te veel gedoe. Ik vind het wel prettig dat ik middels de tools van Google in no-time een blog kon opzetten.

Here I created a place for myself to voice my personal views and opinions. In time I might port this blog elsewhere, but for now I am quite happy with the opportunity Blogger gives me to quickly set up a blog. And of course, I am curious to see how well it integrates with mobile stuff and such i.e. I wonder how easy I can update this blog from my mobile devices for example.
